Vienna, Austria

Find ski buddies in Vienna

Vienna is at the eastern end of the Alps, so its closest slopes are in Lower Austria and Styria. Semmering, reachable by train, and Stuhleck are popular day trips, and Annaberg and Hochkar are a little further into the mountains. For bigger terrain, Viennese riders head west to Schladming and the Salzburg resorts for a weekend or a week, often during the February school holidays. Ski clubs and university groups are a common way to find people, and Austria's skiing tradition means plenty of locals have been riding since childhood.
