Find ski buddies in Detroit

Detroit riders start close to home at Mt Brighton and Pine Knob, small hills where plenty of locals learned and still put in evening laps. For a proper weekend, the drive heads up north to the resorts of northern Michigan, including Boyne Mountain, The Highlands, Nubs Nob and Crystal Mountain, often with a stay in a shared cabin. Lake-effect snow off Lake Michigan can make the northern hills surprisingly good. The community is close-knit and unpretentious, and many riders plan an annual trip west together.
