2026/27 guide

The best apps to find people to ski and snowboard with (2026/27).

Talking a friend into a day off, or hanging around the lift line hoping, isn’t a plan. Here are the apps and habits riders use to find a crew this season, and why one of them is built for exactly this.

We make Broski, so it’s first on this list. For every other app we’ve stuck to what its own store listing says (checked October 2026).

Most options here were built for something else (tracking, general friendships, forums), and Shredder spreads itself across every action sport. Pick a resort and a date and the answer is on one screen.

  • Built only for thisNo feed to scroll. Broski does one job, and does it properly: finding you people to ski and snowboard with.

  • Plan two weeks aheadSee riders’ free days for the next two weeks, and add a trip so riders at your next resort see you on those dates.

What each one is genuinely good for, from its own listing.

  1. 2

    Shredder

Action-sports social app with stat tracking

Shredder calls itself “the social app for action sports”: skiing, snowboarding, surfing, hiking, mountain biking and more. Its listing covers finding people nearby at your skill level, a local feed where you can see who’s active and join sessions, stat tracking (speed, vertical, distance, days and session history) and forecasts.

The difference from Broski is the starting point: Shredder starts from who’s near you across every sport; Broski starts from a resort and a day on the snow. If you want one app for surfing and biking too, with tracking built in, Shredder covers that. See Broski vs Shredder.

  2. 3

    Slopes

    Tracking your days

A ski and snowboard tracker first, with good tools for the friends you already ride with. Live location on the recording screen helps you find each other (you can switch sharing off), and Trips let you invite friends, see who’s coming and share location with everyone on the trip. With Premium, the resort maps show which run your friends are on. It won’t introduce you to anyone new, so it pairs well with Broski: add your Slopes link to your Broski profile and it shows as an “Add me on Slopes” button (Slopes + Broski).

  3. 4

    Ikon Pass app

    Managing your Ikon Pass

Mainly for your pass, stats and getting around Ikon destinations, but its listing includes daily friend groups to message, compare stats and track each other’s locations. Handy for keeping an existing group together at Ikon mountains; it isn’t built for meeting new riders.

    Phones:
    iPhone and Android
    Rating:
4.6 on the App Store (27,000+ ratings, October 2026)

  4. 5

    Meetup

    Interest groups and events

A general app for interest groups; its listing says it has over 60 million members. Search “ski” or “snowboard” near you and you may find groups running weekend trips and car-pools, though what exists depends on your city. Groups are usually based in town rather than at a resort. More in Broski vs Meetup.

    iPhone and Android

4.7 on the App Store (272,000+ ratings, October 2026)

Free to download, with optional member, Meetup+ and organiser subscriptions listed from US$3.99 to US$23.99 (US App Store, October 2026)

    App Store Google Play

  5. 6

    Bumble BFF

    Making friends

Listed as “BFF: Make friends & meet up”, from Bumble’s parent company: interest tags, photo prompts, selfie-verified matches and Groups for planning meetups. There are no resorts, days or levels, but if you’ve just moved to a mountain town, putting skiing or snowboarding up front can help you meet people locally.

    iPhone and Android
    Rating:
4.1 on the App Store (8,600+ ratings, October 2026)
    Price:

    App Store Google Play

  6. 7

    Facebook groups

    Local community groups

Search your resort or town with “ski buddies”, “rideshare” or “seasonaires” and look for groups with recent posts. Good for car-pools, gear swaps and the local scene. Posts get buried quickly and there’s no way to match on ability or day, so meet somewhere public.

  7. 8

    Reddit

    Advice and trip planning

Subreddits such as r/skiing and r/snowboarding are better for advice than for partners, though riders do post looking for company on a trip, and some regions have their own communities. Some subreddits ask for a little karma before you post.

  8. 9

    Ski clubs and resort programmes

    Regular trips and lessons

City and university ski clubs run trips, and resort group lessons and multi-week programmes put you with riders at your level, often the same people every week. It costs more and needs a set schedule, but it’s a proven way to build a crew, especially as a beginner.

Newer, smaller apps such as PowderPals and Liftline aim at the same job and launched in 2026, with only a handful of ratings so far; we compare them on our comparisons page.

Quick answer

Which one should you use?

  • You want someone to ride with this weekend: Broski. Pick the resort and the day, filter by sport and level, and send a few requests. See how it works for a ski buddy or a snowboard buddy.
  • You’re new to a ski town for the season: Broski’s resort chat and meetups, plus local Facebook groups.
  • You already have a crew and keep losing each other: Slopes (connect it to Broski), or the Ikon Pass app at Ikon mountains.
  • You surf or bike too and want tracking in the same app: Shredder.
  • You want a regular group from your city: Meetup, a ski club or a resort programme.

Whichever you use, match on ability first (our ability levels guide helps), keep the first run easy, and read meeting a new ski buddy safely.

How we chose

We make Broski, so it’s first on this list. For every other app we’ve stuck to what its own store listing says (checked October 2026). That covers what each app does, which phones it runs on, its price and its rating. We haven’t invented reviews or scores. Ratings are from the US App Store, rounded down; prices are US App Store prices in October 2026, and your store shows your local price.

To make the list, an app had to be live in both stores, updated in the last year, and genuinely useful for finding or riding with other people. If something here is out of date, tell us at hello@broski.app and we’ll fix it.

Q&A

Questions and answers

What's the best app to find a ski buddy?

Broski: it's the only app on this list built just for finding people to ski and snowboard with, matched by resort, day and level (and yes, we make it). If you want one social app across several action sports with stat tracking, look at Shredder. If you already have a crew, Slopes is great for keeping it together on the mountain.

Is there a free app to find people to ski with?

Yes. Broski is free: finding riders, sending and accepting requests, chat and events don't cost anything. Broski Pro is optional at US$1.99 a month. Shredder, Meetup and Bumble BFF are also free to download.

Do these apps work for snowboarders too?

Yes. Broski, Shredder and Slopes all cover snowboarding. On Broski you can filter Find to show only snowboarders (or only skiers), and by ability, for free.

Can I track my runs with Broski?

Connect Slopes. Broski is for finding your crew and Slopes is for tracking runs, speed and vertical: add your Slopes profile link to your Broski profile and it shows as an "Add me on Slopes" button, so new riding partners can add you there too.

Is this list independent?

No, and we'd rather say so: we make Broski, which is why it's our pick. For every other app we've used its own App Store and Google Play listings (checked October 2026). Prices and features change, so check the store before you pay for anything.
