2026/27 guide

The best ski and snowboard apps for 2026/27.

Start with the pair: Slopes to track your day, Broski to find your crew. Then add the best app for everything else: forecasts, lift passes, technique and the backcountry. Everything here is on iPhone and Android.

Snowboarders

If you snowboard

Almost everything here works the same on a board: Slopes records snowboarding as its own activity, forecasts don’t care what you ride, and Broski lets you filter Find to show only snowboarders, at your level. Two differences. Carv is for skis only, and we didn’t find a snowboard coaching app that’s well rated and kept up to date (bergfex PRO does include snowboard training videos). And if your friends ski, plan around flats and meeting spots: see how skiers and snowboarders ride well together, or find a snowboard buddy.

Disclosure

How we chose

We make Broski, so it’s first on this list. For every other app we’ve stuck to what its own store listing says (checked October 2026). That covers what each app does, which phones it runs on, its price and its rating. We haven’t invented reviews or scores. Ratings are from the US App Store, rounded down; prices are US App Store prices in October 2026, and your store shows your local price.

Every app here is live on the App Store and Google Play and has been updated in the last year, so discontinued apps such as FATMAP are out. If something here is out of date, tell us at hello@broski.app and we’ll fix it.

Q&A

Questions and answers

What's the best ski app for 2026/27?

Start with the pair: Broski for finding people to ride with (we make it, and it's the only app here built for that) and Slopes for tracking, which you can connect to your Broski profile. For everything else, it depends on the job: OpenSnow or Snow-Forecast for forecasts, My Epic or Ikon Pass for lift tickets and wait times, and your local avalanche centre's app for the backcountry.

Which ski apps are free?

Broski, OnTheSnow, My Epic, the Ikon Pass app and the avalanche centre apps listed here are free. Slopes, Ski Tracks, OpenSnow, Snow-Forecast, bergfex and onX Backcountry have free versions with paid upgrades.

Which app helps me find people to ski with?

Broski. None of the other apps on this list is built to introduce you to new riders: Slopes, the Ikon Pass app and bergfex have features for friends you already have. Broski matches you by resort, day and level, free, with optional Pro at US$1.99 a month.

What happened to FATMAP?

FATMAP has shut down, so it isn't on this list. For backcountry planning, onX Backcountry and Switzerland's White Risk are live and updated; for resort trail maps, Slopes, OnTheSnow, bergfex and the pass apps all have them.

Do I need an avalanche app at a ski resort?

Not for riding inside the resort boundary, where ski patrol manages avalanche risk. You need the forecast as soon as you go outside it, along with avalanche training, a beacon, shovel and probe, and partners.

Is this list independent?

No: we make Broski, which is why it's our pick. For every other app we've used its own store listings (checked October 2026). Check the store for the latest features and prices before you pay for anything.
